Global Alliance for Climate Justice

A global advocacy partnership for realizing climate justice

The human face of climate change is cause for great concern, but is seriously deficient in the general public consciousness when compared with the environmental or ecological aspects of climate change. The replacement global climate agreement for the Kyoto Protocol to be concluded in Copenhagen in December 2009 represents a historic opportunity to tackle climate change and provide polluter-financed support to those worst affected by it. However, with little time before the conclusion date set for a deal, current levels of public awareness and political leadership are alarmingly low.

Convened by Kofi Annan, the Global Alliance will bring together highest-level political, humanitarian and celebrity “Climate Allies” into a publically outspoken campaign to rally mass public support and advocate for a strong and equitable outcome at Copenhagen next year.
